timeframe for learning the flash language

can anyone tell me how difficult or how long I could be looking at to learn and produce reasonable flash content for webpages? Right now my skills levels are about:

html: competent
php: competent

I'm not at all familiar with flash or the components that structure an actual movie or swf file. Could someone tell me how long it took them to learn it and start producing? I'm trying to get an idea of how difficult it might be when compared to a server language like php. THANKS!

If you just want to make some flash banners or graphics it's not too bad. Although programs like adobe include advanced features and programming that are a real pain to figure out sometimes. If you are after more complex flash with php or database integration it might take a while. Like anything depends on how determined you are. Simple banners, graphics, intros and things are fairly easy though. But, a program like adobe flash is expensive and I don't know if it's worth it for the basics.

I assume that the website above is about as complex as you can get, involving both flash and PHP scripting. Does that sound right? there are pages on that website that utilize query strings. what is your opinion on its complexity? thanks again!
