I think that you are certainly in a position where you have every right to ask for a raise. You should ask for what you want, even if you think you may be asking too much. Maybe they will give you less than you ask for, but it still will be more than what you are getting paid now. If you are having doubts I found some advice on how to ask for a raise that may help.
