But apart from bragging rights over nvidia, does this matter at all?
What's my Ti500? dx7 or 8? I dunno, but JediKnight2 runs sweet as a nut, that's all that matters. I don't fully understand DirectX and how it works however I do know that most games use DX7 with less, but still quite a few, using DX8/8.1.
Future compliance means little with graphics cards since they become obselete in performance terms very quickly. With 3Dfx out of the way there aren't any rogue standards, (PS1.4 will be in future nvidia cards I'd bet).
One thing ATI have demo'd that is interesting is that the converion from AGP to PCI Express is a doddle. Short of a second rendering card I don't expect to upgrade my Ti500 for 6 months or Prescott core Pentium, whichever comes first. My bank balance just can't wait for quad PC1200 RDRAM, PCI Express mobo and gfx card, and new P4 all at once
