You should just buy the book. If you're going to be continuing your career in computer science then having an extra programming book not only will not hurt you, but it will undoubtedly help you in the future.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to refer back to my basic programming book simply because I forgot something silly.

Of course if you have no interest in computer science, then you should just buy the book to help feed the author. I mean, he's probably a professor who needs extra money anyways :P

(obviously this discussion doesn't talk about the copyright implications of this, but I'm sure that that author has no interest in having his book online for download..)
