Do you mean that you used height as a HTML attribute in the DIV tag? That would be invalid using any DTD. Maybe you didn't valiadate before you started to use XHTML?

There is no totally cross-browser way when the browsers are in Standards Rendeing Mode. If it worked for you with HTML you used a DTD that put the browsers in Quirks Mode.

Both dropdowns are the same width though (I got that right). Is that the problem? You want the left menu to fit...
