Best way to capture and encode TV stream on Linux?
My first forum post. I read the rules. Hopefully I am doing everything right. :)
I need to know please the best way to capture a free-to-air UK TV stream from and to stream it.
I only know the very basics of video streaming and so far I am thinking of using Raspberry Pi's, hence mentioning Linux, to do the capturing and streaming.
So general advice and ideas about that would be great and also whether it would be better to use on them a hardware solution, like a tuner card, for capturing/broadcasting, or a software solution.
If you don't know about Linux then ideas on Windows or anything else is welcome too.
Thanks in advance.
Hi , easiest way is to use VLC, it can capture a stream and then stream that stream~ + VLC wotks on linux/Win32 ... http://www.videolan.org/doc/vlc-user-guide/en/ch04.html
