Any advice for a new learner
Hi
Just wondering does anyone have any advice for someone new to the game. Is there anything you wish you had done starting off that you know now? Just began a 4 year Degree course in Commercial Software Dev. which uses HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, PHP, MYSQL and Java. A lot of Ecommerce aswell. If you have any advice i would highly appreciate it. Thanks |
I wish I had NOT GONE DOWN THE MAINFRAME/COBOL ROAD.
Haha... I'm only half serious... I've had a solid career and managed to transition out of Mainframe COBOL "just in time", at the same time capitalizing on a niche demand, so I don't really regret it. But, if I were just starting right now, I would definitely prefer a workload which uses HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, PHP, MYSQL and Java. A lot of Ecommerce aswell. (yes I just copy/pasted that out of your post) Sounds like you're on a good path. Best advice I can give you is do a lot of website building on your own, in addition to what your schooling demands of you. Nothing substitutes for experience. |
Cheers for the advice.
I have a couple of really big ideas ready which ill be putting into action during the summer and seeing what i can make from them. Wether they are too big is a different case altogether. |
I wish I'd known about CodingForums.com years ago! So you're already 10 steps ahead of others by just being here. ;)
