red internet led

Hi, sometimes while i'm connected to the Internet the Internet led of my router become red and the connection go down. The router documentation says it failed the PPP authentication, is that caused by the router or my line ? Has it happened to you too ?

There are far to many variables and unknowns here. This is a question you really should ask your internet provider. They are the ones that provide your service and likely your modem/router as well.

try bypassing the router and connecting directly through the modem, see if the issue persists.....

if it persists, could be the modem, phone line or ISP, in which case call your phone company and ask them to do a line test, also call your isp and talk to them... since something may be on their logs about the issue even if it isn't them... could be your modem even needs replacing

if no..... reset your router to hardware defaults and set it back up... if issue still persists... replace your router

this issues appears rarely and after I reebot the router it works again, you think it is a router or a line problem ?

first off just hook up directly through the modem and see if the issue persists, spooker is right and could be numerous things.... which means unfortunately it's kinda of an elimination game.. and the router is the easiest to check for....

another thing you need to check is the Ethernet cables but just bypass the router first and see what happens, even if the issue is gone... it could see be the cable from the router to the modem.... which if it is gone... would be the next thing to check

My brother had the SS4100 modem on his computer and it was given to me to use on my computer since he left. I've connected it directly...
