Need help turning this into a drop-down menu
Hi there,
I've added a menu to a WordPress template that didn't orginally come with one (I'm pretty proud of having accomplished just that, actually). But I'm having trouble figuring out how to turn this into a decent drop-down menu. I'm hoping someone can help me. Here's my development site. I would love to format it similar to this one (with obvious differences like, not having the nifty smaller first word, and having the colors match this site). And one other thing: Is there a way to set the styling so that half of the menu appears on the left side of the logo and the other half appears on the right? Many many MANY thanks in advance!! |
Nevermind. I decided to save myself the trouble and just downloaded a menu plugin. Why re-invent the wheel, right?

You're not re-inventing anything! You're learning how something works.
You can't rely on finding a plugin forever, and one day you'll need to accomplish something custom on your own and wont be able to. I could walk you through creating the exact menu you have from scratch. |
I think I shall take you up on that offer! I've realized that the template I was working from was crappy, so I need to really create it from scratch for my client.
|
I'll put it up on JSfiddle in a bit. Hang tight!

Here's a walkthrough. It covers most everything. Let me know if you have questions!
(just click the "play walkthrough" button and it'll play like a screencast. You can pause at any time to view my code, and test the nav bar. ) http://thecodeplayer.com/walkthrough...2170be082d5802 |
I'm going to explore this in detail tomorrow. Thanks every so much!! I have definitely come to the conclusion that the template I was trying to work with is bunk and I need to do this one from scratch, which will be a first for me with WordPress. YAY for learning new things though!!
