Thanks Fat guy Stephen, but Whatttt! you have to be a member for ages to post an avatar?
What type of control freak runs this forums with a rule like that?

BTW I clicked your link! ;o)

donna1 12-01-2012 01:01 AM

SO I can load my photo in a post but not as my avatar till Ive been here 3 months!!!!!!!
Illogical rule.

This forum is run by professional programmers/web developers who primarily care about solving coding problems, not about more or less funny little images. For a long time no avatars were allowed at all, so therefore, when the decision was made to introduce that feature this privilege has only been granted to proven active members. If you care about an avatar so bad then be active and stick around helping people or contributing in other ways.

Tut tut, I wouldn't call my photo a [ICODEfunny little immage][/ICODE] and nor loading a photo a privaledge that should have to be earnt

VIP ??? :roll-eyes:

Good for you. However, so far you have only been a member for a few days and made five posts, and you’re just complaining about things. If you feel limited here then feel free to go wherever you want. After all, nobody is forcing you to be here.

There are many female members in this forum that are all OK with the way things work here. What’s so important about having an avatar? Programming/coding is not primarily meant to express emotions but to get a job done – or well, now that I think about it, maybe this is indeed kind of a male approach. So, I’d be very interested in your go at creating a “feminine” programming language. You could start by recompiling PHP into a feminine version similar to the approach on If PHP were British.

But for now and as long as you’re here be patient and contribute and you shall receive the privilege to have an avatar.

I'm surprised people use them - I've had them turned off from day dot :)

You'd be surprised at how much you can learn by offering to help people out on here. I've come across so many different ways to do things comparing and contrasting methods when helping other users.

Yes well I will help people when I understand it myself

How can I get a notification when someone replies to my thread.
I have a few questions out there and dont want to have to keep looking at each thread to see if someones replied

Is there a way I can see at a glance is someone has replied?

When you are writing your thread before you submit scroll down in the box that says "Thread Subscription" select instant email notification.
