Java 2D Game Programming Level Design
Hey guys, at the moment I am messing around with Java making a few games, just trying to learn a few more last things before I start Ludum Dare 24. Anyway, could anyone tell or show me how to do level design for a 2D game, like when you create a image in paint.net or Photoshop and when you load the game it reads the colour from the image and places certain things on certain colours?
Kind of like what the girl in this video does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0o6BPYKBiA\ Cheers |
I believe she is using tile editor to make them, similar to mappy http://www.tilemap.co.uk/mappy.php
Here's a similar topic on another forum, it got some decent responses you might want to look into: http://forum.freegamedev.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1576 Overall, gamedev has a lot of resources for tile maps and such. overall, as said, you are looking for collision and scrolling in addition to map loading, possibly others. Hopefully this helped |
