need help in beginning programming
First of all, I was glad to found this forum. Basically, I am just about to begin my career in programming. But, just like all the other beginners, I don't have a clue about anything. I recently switched from business major to computer programming and my first course was Object oriented programming ( based on C#) and I had a tough time grabbing it because I had no prior knowledge of programming. Now, the thing is that I have decided to go for a professional training other than my university...but I don't know where to start and what course should I aim to learn... Recently...I found an institute that is offering a diploma in Dot.net technology..now I have a little concept of what dotnet is ...but I don't know if I should go for it...i knw everyone has his own opinion and i will get different opinions because everyone will answer differently abt the right way to start programming...anyways..i am attaching the course outline..please check it....and let me know what u think of it...is it suitable for a beginner who wants to start learning programming from the scratch..i would be really thankful to anyone who replies...
It's really difficult to suggest what you should do...
I've always found Windows specific languages to a be a bit specific/confusing. They attempt to make things easy but seem to extend standards which makes it difficult to transition away from their products.
You could also get started by installing some open source products and buying a good book on them. However, you'll want to make sure you don't get locked into one way of thinking... for example, use PHP via Apache as well as .NET via IIS.
Anyway, once you've gone through some books and projects taking courses is a great way to expose you to wider thinking and a more formal evaluation of your skills.
