Which programming language do I need?

Totally new here, so please be gentle! :o

I'd like a digital-look countdown timer that will begin to count down from 48 hours when the page is opened. Where do I go for answers - would this be a js question, an html question, or which programming language might fit the need?

Do you want the timer to keep running after the page has been closed?

Javascript is what you need for this.
