chat/message board
Where can I find a chat/message board that i can put on a website so users can talk to each other?

You could use IRC for chat.
Here's the site for a java applet you can put on your website: http://www.jpilot.com/ |
I obtained free code from www.LiquidDiamond.net but I don't know if they still have it or not (LiquidChat).
To view my modified version visit: http://www.houseofproctor.com/chatroom/ I modified the free zipped files to what it is. You have to be familiar with ASP and MSAccess Database maintenentance to run. It works very well, and has some neat features for a homepage chat room. If you (or anyone else) would like to have the original zip file, feel free to drop an e-mail and I will forward. PS Edit: You do not need a passord to enter. That is optional for members that like to reserve user ID's. |
As for a message board, we could recommend you on getting on based on your server's capabilities. So what server-side languages does your host support?
Otherwise, you might want to look at a hosted service, such as http://www.ezboard.com or something. Good luck :). |
chat/message board
I've found YABB to be a great message/bulletin board
www.yabbforum.com I've also tried discus (www.discusware.com), but found YABB was better for my needs. It allows secure areas which the freeware version of Discus doesn't. I've tried a number of chat board scripts as I'm not all that interested in remote hosted chat boards, but haven't found anything too amazing. Go to www.scriptsearch.com, they have links to a number of different chat scripts. Cheers Cam |
Thanks
I would like to thank everyone who responded to my request for a chat/message board. Especially JoeP. And to Kang He, don't get paranoid, I was using the "/" to make a broad inquiry. Nothing sinister about it. All of the recommendations are being looked over and I am getting something out of each one of them. Thanks again all of you for your help in this problem.
