Basic Database/Actionscript Question
 

This might be a really basic question, so basic I find it hard to explain what I am looking for. I am basically looking for help to save data from a flex application to a database online. It would be a web app, that runs on a server, and the same host would need to store the username etc. I know SQL, but I have never seen anything for Actionscript to communicate with a database, and what type of database would best suit this?

Do i need to use PHP coupled with Actionscript to do it? Any help would be appreciated.
