Oracle in the news

Not sure if anyone has followed this for the last couple of weeks but it is pretty interesting. It is bad for the employees at peoplesoft if the takeover goes through but that is buisness. I was not aware that Oracle was the #2 in software. At the end of the article the author talks about the 2 different routes MS and Oracle are going to take to be #1. : Quote:
Personally because of MS Office I think MS will always be #1. |
No, I don't believe that Microsoft will come out on top. They are already for seeing the greatness of the Linux OS and have said its a competitor so with that in mind Oracle is a great DB to use there, and at the same time, Oralce goes cross platform (as far as I know). MSOffice doesn't. Now why do you think MSOffice will give Microsoft the advantage? Theres nothing special about it and you can get all the same functionality for free by getting OpenOffice. I personally run both an different machines as well as a Linux machine that has other software that can do the same stuff. Im not so sure that Microsoft will be #1...
