web programmer sought as a partner to develp new ways to generte revenue from interne

I am seeking a web programmer to help me develop a business idea. Working together, we would lay the foundation of a new way to monetize the internet. Up to this point, advertisement revenues have been the main financier of internet content. But, advertising on the internet has its limitations and drawbacks. For example, content is often molded in a manner that will optimize the search engine placement of that content in order to increase its ranking and thus enhance ad generated revenue potential. The unfortunate yet understandable result is that content quality in many takes a back seat to advertisement revenue concerns. The content has to pay for itself somehow, right?

Will ad revenue continue at the current levels indefinitely or are there other models that can work? Maybe not. It is known we are ad blind. Maybe someday the advertisers will quit paying for our blindness.

Is there a way to producing high quality content that attracts content users and in return, generates revenue? I believe the answer is yes. I believe that there are other mechanisms and systems besides advertising that could play a major role in the future of the internet and how revenue will be derived from content. I envision such a system and seek a web programmer to help me plan how to create this system. After the planning stage, we will move forward to the programming stage where, you, my partner, will create a beta version of the idea. We will then approach investors if and when needed to bring the system online and begin growing it. This system will enhance internet content and has the potential to be an evolutionary step forward in the way revenue will be generated from internet content.

I am looking for a partner with significant web programming experience. The individual needs to have background in internet security. Additionally, you will need the standard web programming experience such as Ruby on Rails, LAMP, AJAX, SQL, PHP, HTML, etc. Also, the ability to program plug-ins for browsers is desirable.

My prospective partner needs to show that participating in this project is not a conflict of interest with other projects or employment. You will also be expected to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Currently I own 100% of the idea/business. By joining the project and partnering with me to develop this idea, you will receive 20% ownership in the idea/business. Highly motivated, entrepreneurially minded, and talented students who wish to help build a company from scratch are encouraged to apply.

Please send your resumes to me either via private message or via the email link.

I look forward to working with you,

James Swensen

Hey James,

Why not an even 50% ?

Mike,

That's a good question. Here are my initial thoughts on this.

1. I want to reserve ownership that can be exchanged for investment capital. The first round of financing, depending on amount, I would like to exchange for between 10 and 20% of the company. This would not dilute my partner's 20% ownership as I would be using the 80% ownership I have retained.

2. I realize that I cannot bring together a working beta and launch this on my own because I lack the programming skills. Hence, I understand that although the idea is mine, it has no value stuck in my head. I am willing and desirous to share the wealth. A piece of a decent-sized to really big pie is more than having a whole, yet very tiny (worthless) pie all to myself. I am more than willing to give my partner more ownership. I feel that increased ownership can be granted based on performance and meeting certain developmental goals that both I and my partner agree upon from the beginning in a written contract.

Hey James,

I understand where you're coming from with the investment capital, but that would still leave 60% for you and 20% for the partner. Why such a disproportionateness?

I also understand your second point regarding performance. Up to what percentage would you be willing to increase the partner's share assuming they are successfully meeting all developmental goals?

Mike,

I understand where you are coming from. My programming partner is going to have ideas and expand on the original idea. Their ideas will add value to the business as it develops. Additionally, my partner will do much of the "lifting" to give this idea life since I cannot program. It is reasonable to expect to receive compensation for the added value of the ideas and the coding effort.

This is the sort of collaborative partnership I wish to establish. If such a partnership develops and there is great progress, I am willing to progress to the point of equal partnership as you have suggested.

I believe that the more ownership one takes in an idea, the more invested they are in the idea/business's success. I believe in providing that type of ownership incentive based on the progress made on the development of the code and the ideas my partner brings to the table.
