I feel bad asking but can someone please help
Hi all,
I hate to ask this question because i've seen it everywhere and I know that quite often there is no simple answer but i have to ask. Why won't Google index my pages? No, please don't go to another thread. Please read me out. I've researched and researched. The answers i've seen range from "well all you need to do is....research some more" or "all you need to do is create a good website". I've tried to get my code looking good with various seo tools. All my H1, H2 and meta tags and keywords and titles all with the right number of letters and without repeating keywords too often. And putting myself out there in forums and articles and blogs and pinging and social bookmarking and god knows what else. My site is half in English and Half in Malay. The Malay pages, no problem they have been indexed but the English pages..... I've been visited by Mountain View several times but nothing. Am I so blind that I am missing the wood for the trees? All suggestions (of a pleasant nature) will be gratefully received. Thanks, Phil Oh yeah, my site is at www.grammarproof.50webs.com |
Did you submit your site to google? http://www.google.com/addurl/
Also, seeing that your site is a subdomain, Google probably doesn't show it. I dunno, check here: http://www.google.com/support/webmas...n&answer=35769 |
Hi Thanks for the reply.
Yes i submitted to Google, Yahoo, Bing, Dmoz. I have made a sitemap and robots text which i keep updated whenever i change something. I verified with both Google and Yahoo also with metatags. I'm not sure that the fact it is a subdomain is a problem as a few of the pages which are in Malay have already been indexed. I just feel like i'm missing something obvious. All the text is my own so no duplication of others work. All the titles are unique as are the individual page descriptions. |

I think if you leave out the space between "site:" and the start of "http" you get this result.
http://www.google.com.my/search?hl=e...meta=&aq=f&oq= 5 Malay pages and one English (contact) page  |
Further to my last - I've just sent a reconsideration request to Google. Not sure if that is a good thing or not but i got to try something eh.
Any thoughts? |
How long ago was the submission?
|
Well it was only about 6 weeks ago which i know isn't a long time in the world of submission but the Malay pages were indexed within about 2 weeks.
I also have another very small (English) site which was indexed within 2 weeks completely. And i used the same methods to the letter to do that one. It points to something not quite right i'm guessing.... but what? |
Were they linked to?
|
Sorry Apostropartheid, i'm not sure i understand the question, Were they linked to each other or by subject? Neither, the other site is about the sale of a pub in Canada. Yes i have very diverse subjects.
|
Were they linked to by an external site, I mean?
|
Curiously enough, the Pub Sale Site does not have any links.
But with the Grammar Proof site, i put it in free ads, business directories, forums, facebook etc. |

Actually the content is the same, only translated from English to Malay (by human, not google translate). The main index page is English though, so I don't understand why that would stop Google seeing it. Does it not visit the index page first and then follow the robot txt?
If i swapped the language pages around until they discover all pages and then swap them back..... is that naughty..... or fiendishly clever? |
Google does not like website hosted in free web hosts, you may also want to remove the link from your first post , this post will rank better in google than that of your website.
