    Script Speed Problem

I have a php script that imports third party scripts to enhance my own. Theres a problem however.

one of the third party applications is causing a delay in the system, below are symptoms:

    - Apache seems to "sleep" there waiting for something before sending the page
    - Server is almost idle
    - "SHOW PROCESSLIST" in MySQL shows no issues

What are common things to look for that could be causing this? I was told somthing like using flock could do it, however searches pulled up no files using it.

I doubt it is, but PHP has a sleep() function, which pauses execution for a certain ammount of time.
