Would it be possible for me to run say a shell_exec() or system() command to run dreamweaver located at:

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe

i tried with something like

PHP Code:
shell_exec ("C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe");
saw a brief dos window pop up and then it closed. I was also wondering if you could pass in any vars to the shell_exec() that would allow me to open say a .php file... so possibly something along the lines of

PHP Code:
function openFile($name)
{

shell_exec ("C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe&file="$name ."");

and then later on have a link that you click to run the function... (dont know if its possible to set the href of a link to call a function)

or if i could just do something along the lines of

PHP Code:
$path "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe&file="$name ."";
echo
"<a href=" shell_exec ($path) . ">Link</a>"
