    Thumbs up PHPDEV Problem[Resolved]

    Greetings,

I downloaded phpdex423 as per the sticky at the top of this forum and followed the instructions to the letter. It went through the installation perfectly and I currently have a DOS window with the title "C:\phpdev\Apache\Apache.exe" and in the window it reads:

    Apache/1.3.27 <Win32> PHP/4.2.3 running...

but when I try the step in the instructions where you open your favorate browser and type "http://localhost/" it goes straight to the usual windows IIS pages instead of the page that has the link for start_here.

What did I do wrong? Or is there some other step I have missed?

    Please help!!

    Thanks in advance,

So you set up apache (PHPDEV) but you already have IIS?

If so is IIS on port 80 (the defualt port)?

If it is, then Apache has to be on a different port. To do this open the httpd.conf file, search for listen, and change it from "Listen 80" or whatever the number is, to something like "Listen 8080" and then restart apache. To get to apache you will need to use http://localhost:8080/ (where 8080 is your chosen port).

If you don't use IS then you could just turn it off and then apache would probably work without doing the above.
