    email and security

    Hello

I was wondering how secure it is to send sensitive data over emails.

Is there some encryption stuff to protect the data? Anything specific that should be done?

thanks in advance for your help

    I don't think it's any different then ftp'ing or http'ing a file, securitywise.

Like regular webpages, you can encrypt your emails.
This is normally done with a public-key/private-key encryption : you need to obtain a private key and usually also a digital signiture from companys like Verisign etc

I suppose that most modern email-packages have the ability to encrypr and decrypt mail, but i never realy looked into it.
