    manual credit card processing addon for shopping cart script.. how???

    Hi, i am using a script from http://www.cubecart.com/site/home/ for an ecommerce site but it has no function to manual process credit card numbers through a machine.. i.e to get the card number after the order is submitted and then physically typing it in the credit card machine for processing..

    any ideas? what can i do?

    You could most likely query the database table that the cart is using to store CC numbers (if that is what it is doing) and then display a report on them and then go enter them manually...

    It's generally thought of as being bad practise (for security reasons) to store people's credit card details in an online database. If you have to do it manually, it would be best to take them to a secure server where they enter their details, and these details get emailed to you.

    Have you looked at online credit card processing through a gateway? You have two problems with manually processing transactions the way you described: 1) Security -- if you are hosting the site yourself on your own hardware, with enough time and money you may be able to make it secure; if you are using a hosting provider, there is nothing you can do to make it secure enough to pass card association scrutiny. 2) Card association regulations -- unless your terminal account is setup as an e-commerce account (and I'm not aware of any), you would be breaking the card association rules and any customer disputing a charge would automatically win and you would lose the money (in addition to possible fines and account suspention).
