    proper way to write to a database with php?

    would i use the same php format to wrtie to a databse like i would to a a text file ?
    its for my sign up page/join.php

    Answer: No. Totally different! It also depends on the database that you're using, probably MySQL.

    Take a look at this tutorial:

    Because it sounds like you're going to need to know more than just how to write to the database! Interacting with a database (including writing to it) requires the use of SQL (a language). PHP has methods like mysql_query() that accept SQL statements as strings and execute the SQL query on the database.

    Have a look at the tutorial and try out some examples before applying it to your signup.php page.
