    PHP MyAdmin help please

    I have just installed PHP, Apache Server and MySQL.

    Could someone point me in the right direction as how to install PHP MyAdmin. Not the SQL one.

    What directory do I install it in also how do I correctly install it.
    Also how do I open the application?

    I have looked on the PHP.net site but cannot find anything.

    I am using Windows XP Home Edition. Apache 2.0, PHP 4.3.6.

    All help would be very much appreciated.

    No idea what you are asking for. What do you want to install?

    When I open the browser as http://localhost/phpMyAdmin I get the following error message:

    Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.5.6

    phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

    Error

    MySQL said:

    #1045 - Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)

    [Documentation]

    All I know is that it is something to do with the password.

    What I don't know or how to correct it.

    you need to create a mySQL account and then store the username and pwd inside the connectionfunction inside config.inc.php

    check the manual on how to get going with mySQL and set up an account http://www.mysql.com/search/?q=getting+started

    Thanks for trying RAF but I am getting no joy.

    I have changed the following line in the config.inc file:
    $cfg['Servers'][$i]['controluser']' ';
    to read
    $cfg['Servers'][$i]['controluser']'root';

    I am now getting the following error message;

    Server localhost
    Error

    MySQL said:

    #1045 - Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)

    Further information - I only wish to use PHP, Apache & MySQL on my own local machine.

    Many Thanks for all your help RAF.
    I have now been able to solve the problem.

    The main problem was with the password. I didn't realise that it had to be entered twice both in:

    $cfg['Servers'][$i]['controlpass']' '

    and also in

    $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password']' '

    I only had it entered in controlpass.

    I am just starting to study PHP & MySQL from a book and without it installed I was at a loss.

    Again Many thanks.
