    Request for assistance of a good phper

    I need a good phper would is interested in working on a project which is required for a parent company I work for.

    I am not assuming one person will complete the entire project.

    It consiists in basic, of a code by which users can register on the site and then log in. Then they fill out various values. Then they perform a search query of various values which bring back the results of other users which they all did into their profile.

    Anyone interested? I would imagine there are some hotscripts stuff you could use as a starting point - I simply would have to learn php from scratch.

    I have the entire layout done on paper, flow charts, site map options, usage pattern, and all values for db.

    I'm not asking one to do the entire project start to finish, unless they want to.

    I plan on owning the rights to the script because at a later date (a while after usage begins) I may wish to allow the creator to make an open-source version of it, for wider intent, and for their profit.

    Lemme know - let's not discuss finances here so it doesn't get locked. I want to discuss ability and tell what I know.

    Night!

    if you have planned out everything this far, its very simple to take things to the next stage - by yourself.

    If you have written the flow charts out, the next stage is to convert these flow charts to a procedure, i.e. using IF, THEN, ELSE statements. Dont worry too much about the ins and outs of it yet, as long as you get the basic structure sorted you can use #comments to indicate something that needs to be done later.

    For example:
    Code:
    <?php

    if($user == "Sweenster")
    {
      #procedure to welcome Sweenster
    }
    else if ($user == "MysteryMan")
    {
      #procedure to welcome Mystery Man
    }
    else
    {
      #default welcome procedure
    }

    ... and so on
    PHP is not as complicated as it looks, it's just a case of getting your procedures right and your half way there. The next half is to ask for advice on how to deal with specifics - example how to access a database, process a string etc etc.

    I could possibly give you some advice on this if you wanted (hell, thats what this forum is for), but as far as taking on a project this size goes it will be fairly time consuming.

    The best thing to do is get a book on PHP and go to http://www.hotscripts.com and download a free php script. They will have something that is close to what you want. Also at the top of the php forums there is a free php development package that you should install. I have it and its great.

    Then modify the php script to your needs, and when you run into a problem post your php script and within hours you will get helpfull replies back.

    Me thinks I was not clear

    If I was to buy a book and learn php, I'd be losing money.

    It would cost less to hire someone to do it then to learn it. This is because time I spend learning loses me more money per hour (that I'd make if I was working and not learning) than if I paid someone to do it.

    This is why I am looking for someone, and not doing it myself. I know how to do it myself - it's a matter of losing money.

    This point seems to not be understood; I'm not someone sitting here with nothing to do and wanting someone to make something for me. I'm busy working when I'm not sleeping and can't waste the hours when it's worth more...

    ..anyhow - since everyone here seems to have no interest in coding for money, lemme ask you this: How does one go about finding someone who knows php and DOES work for money?

    I find plenty of web design people, but no one who does strict php - I can handle web design already.......

    Thanks!

    Take a look to the replies to the php posts, you will notice that there is a lot of php experts on this forum (I'm not one). Then email them to work out the terms.

    By reading the posts its easy to figure out the ones that know a lot about php.
