    Specify Server

With my host, we want to block the default smtp server and force our users to specify their local mail server for smtp auth.

    1. use dummy mail server in php ini file.
    2. How to specify smtp mail server in script.
    3. How to specify user login for smtp server.

all you can really do is disable the mail function in the php.ini ( disable_functions directive ), if you specify a dummy sendmail application thats going to slow the server down when people ultimately try to use it anyway

you can find a fair few SMTP scripts at hotscripts.com , classes at phpclasses.org and a couple of half decent ones at zend.

you could also recompile PHP without mail support or better still rewrite the mail function to accept sendmail path & authentication arguments.
    resistance is...

MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)
