    Permission for root directory

    Please help me.. How to set chmod permission for root directory to 777..

    You don't want to do that. Only do it for directories inside the server root, not the root of the file system. It creates enormous vulnerabilities if you do that.

    I am designing short url site.. So in my server i dont have public_html or htdocs folder direct root directory.. I want permission to create file by my php script.. But it cant create it need permission so what to do..

    I don't know what kind of server you are using, if it's Apache you just need to make some changes in the httpd.conf file, as to the DocumentRoot and Directory, and then chmod the contents of that directory.
