    SimpleXML messing with my data

The string that goes in contains • but comes out as β€’
    ‚ comes out as β€š
How can I stop this happening? Alternatively, is there any way to get β€’ back to •?

I have no control over the data, its from an external source.

it’s probably an encoding issue. check that all your code (including the connections (to the DB)) use the same encoding (looks like UTF-8)
