Completely new to coding [except a lil bit of HTML] & want to learn how to create.

My goal is to create a full functioning website like 9gag.com with voting systems and users posting up videos etc etc.

Is there any way I could go about doing this without hiring a professional?

    Where should I start?
I don't have much money to start with so a friend of mine told me about WAMP so I can start creating my own server-sided website right out of my home, just to practice and get the hang of creating sites..

    Thank you

Sure, you can learn to code and make it yourself.

A good place to start is to look up some PHP tutorials for CRUD using the database. There are some links in the stickies at the top of this forum that can help you get started and there is no shortage of PHP examples on the interwebs. Keep in mind that if you are going to build a site with a lot of functionality, especially if you are starting from scratch with your coding knowledge, it's going to take a while to get anything decent and event longer to produce a quality product. That is the whole reason companies hire professionals; they already have the knowledge and experience to create and maintain a viable product faster and more efficiently.
