    HTML for a movie

    I have amovie is located on my hard drive. I want to get the HTML code working with that location. After I correct the HTML code so that it will work on my desk top, I will upload it to my Web site and amend it to work on the Web. Finally, I want to wrap a PHP code around it to protect access with a password.

    I can see the movie if I open it with QuickTime.

    But first things first.

    The HTML code designed for my hard drive only displays a red box. I have attached the faulty code below. Can someone please tell me what changes to make to the code so that it will display the movie? Thanks.

    You can't just embed a file and expect it to work... you have to tell the system what to do with it. Have you googled 'embedding a mov on a site'? And that'll require people have quiktime to view the video... you'll probably want a flash alternative.

    HTML for a movie

    With the following code I must download the movie before I can watch it. Is there a way to view the movie on one's computer without the bother of downloading it? Thanks, spruce18b

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    .style4 {
    font-size: 36px;
    color: #0033FF;

    .style2 {
    font-size: 20px;
    color: #0033FF;
    }
    -->
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>

    I'm failing to see why this is in the PHP forum.
    PHP is incapable of loading from a client machine in your first example. Its also mostly incapable of providing a stream. You'll need to look into a client solution for it.

    HTML forum is what you want if you want to embed an object in the HTML code.
    If you want to write something for it, I'd suggest using Java and an applet.
