Looking for somone to help me get started...

I am in the Coast Guard and I am looking to create something for my command center.

I am looking to create an electronic status board.

In the command center we have all our boats right now up on a white board with green and red blocks for if they are underway or not.

I took that and put it into an excel spreadsheet. And it sits on my 2nd monitor and then displays on one of our 47" monitors so everyone who walks in can see it.

I want to make the same version but in web based format. WHat Im being told i need to do this in PHP, which i have NO clue how to do. I was wondering if there is anyone who can banter back and forth with me through e-mail to help me set this up. If you can, can you PM me. Thanks!

I would just set up a database and put create rows pertaining to whatever you need to keep track of.

Then I would design a page that displays the info in horizontal rows. In each row I would have an edit button so you could update the status of each boat.

It wouldn't be a hard thing too implement, but it all depends on whether it needs to be a secure thing or not.

Using a database to hold data and have a php page that can update the database info wouldn't be hard at all.

PM me if you want me to work with you on startng something. That way you can provide me with all the details regarding what you need.
