    Is there a way to have PHP send an email near a date?

    I am making a school assignment reminder system, and I want to make use of the mail function by having PHP check the current date against the dates in my database, and if the difference is one day, email the user who submitted the assignment.

    I am confident that I could figure most of this out. What I don't know how to do, is have this script run automatically without me having to visit the page or whatever.

    Any ideas? Is this possible?

    Thanks!

    PHP Code:
    <?php echo "Microsuck says hi!"?>

    You can use cron to run some script automatically.
