    Post php.ini

I have 2 php.ini files, one is called php.ini-recommended and the other one is called php.ini-dist.

In order for session to work, I changed php.ini-recommended to php.ini, in the php.ini file changed session.save_path = C:\php Win32\tmp (full path to tmp)

session works now, but because I changed the file name to hph.ini, there are so many things got messed up, example: code that's in the include file doesn't work properly.

why do I have php.ini-recommended and php.ini-dist? what is the different of them 2?

    Thank you

    Mike

Without having windows, (used to have it though, mind), I always used the php.ini-dist. I guess the php.ini-recommended is just load the very basic php functions and modules.

    Don't know why

I made changes to php.ini-dist and php.ini-recommended but session doesn't seem to work. Only way for session to work is copy the content of php.ini-recommended paste it to a notepad and save it as php.ini

    Right now, I have 3 php ini files, php.ini-dist, phpini-recommended and php.ini

Why do I need 3 php ini files? when I do changes, do I have to change in all 3 of the ini files??

    Thank you,

    Mike

Those are sample configuration files. The only one you need to modify is the php.ini. You should have just left your original one there. What I was doing in your other thread was narrowing down the problem and once I determined what the problem was you went and changed out configuration files.

The error you got with the original was saying that your temp directory either did not exist or the path to it in your configuratoin file was incorrect. That is why your sessions were not working.

I duplicated php.ini-recommended files and change one to php.ini

    should I change php.ini-dist to php.ini instead of php.ini-recommended to php.ini??

does it matter? is that 2 orginal ini files same or different? cuz I looked at them and they are basically contain same info.

    thanx

Just change it back to the one you had started with. Then check to make sure the session tmp directory path is correct and that the directory actually exists.
