    http://www.php.net/download-docs.php

    I recommend the .chm version because both the Index and Search tabs make finding information very easy.
    If you are learning PHP, developing PHP code, or debugging PHP code, do yourself a favor and check your web server log for errors and/or turn on full PHP error reporting in php.ini or in a .htaccess file to get PHP to help you.

    Yes it is if you want to run it. PHP can be run from the command line as well, but its pretty much useless if you want to handle forms. To do that, install a web server as well, IIS or Apache are the two most common, PHP and you may as well install a database - mysql is free, easy to set up and also among the more common web databases.
    PHP Code:
    header('HTTP/1.1 420 Enhance Your Calm');

    DK ...

    If you have no previous programming background, I recommend you get a webhost
    and start playing around online. To set up your own server, Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc
    on your PC is rather advanced for a non-experienced programmer.

    You can subscribe to a webhost really cheap, like $35 per year (or less)... everyone
    has their favorites (I like www.cleverdot.com). You can find one using Google.

    Start by just making a web page to play around with.

    Well, no one can tell you how fast you'll be on creating one of those mentioned things. It all depends on how dedicated you are to your project, and how willing you are to learn it.

    If you really want to learn PHP and you study hard, you could easily create 'something interesting' in no time. Once you get started with PHP it's basically common sense and will be piece of cake.

    Yes, make a random page and start playing.
    You'll learn the most by doing it.
