    Image resource

is that possible to display an image created (by resizing a bigger one) with GD without saving it to the server first? I want to display the image on the fly, and NOT in a new empty window.
    Any help appreciated.

    why?

I have known server admins who have got so frustrated at resource drain from people doing that, that they simply disable GD totally.

If you give a nice valid reason for wanting to bog down the servers resources like that, I'll gladly answer the question.

You can serve an image to either browser or file, see imagecreate() *I think* in the manual, however it's a pretty intensive operation as Ökii mentions, unless you have a dedicated server and a fairly powerful one at that I'd not bother.
