    Access Database...um...access

Hey all, just wondering if the following is possible without too much complication.

Set up a Microsoft Access Database with several records and fields and upload this to the internet.
Have a php page that links to the database created and runs basic queries on it - showing the answers on screen (basically just recalling info).

Or will have I have to grit my teeth and do this using MySQL?

I want a simple way to retrieve info from the database but one that is easily updatable (as in update the info in the database) for those who aren't very technical. The end user will not need to actually write to the database, it will just be a case of retrieving the info.

Thanks in advance for help and suggestions.

    Mxx

Is your server running Linux or MS Windows?

I'm not actually sure. The test one I will be setting up so I can learn how to do it will be linux, but then it will go on the servers which aren't mine and I have no idea what these are. I will assume linux as well though.

Is there much of a difference? (I assume 'yes' as you asked the question)

    Q

If you are running Linux then you will not be able to use MS Access. It's usually just best to go with MySQL with PHP on a Linux box.
