    Question E Commerce Question

    Post summary:

    • Looking for shopping cart with affiliate tracking.
    • affiliate links call upon a specific style sheet so the cart looks different depending on affiliate.
    • usability and tracking is a must.

    I have a pretty specific idea for an ecommerce site, but one of the main features i am looking into is the ability to have multiple looks for the same site based on the referring URL. Kind of like an affiliate link, but instead of just tracking sales, the affiliate will have a custom storefront using CSS.

    i dont know if there is any software that has this functionality, and I am not adept enough to program myself, please let me know if you have any suggestions that could help me out. Just a point in the right direction would be great.

    Thanks!

    Your information is vague, if I understood correctly the problem I would probably create different pages depending on who is viewing your site.

    The best way to separate the viewing page is to have a log in form, so you will have a secure page for let's say, resellers. You can also have a like the easy Google Picasa security with a special link (page.php?kdsjafkWjf32FuIudds), containing a password. The draw back of this is that your browser will remember the path and other users on that computer can see the link and access it. I recommend log in with user&password.

    Depending on the differences between your pages, you can have also the same page both for normal users and special users, but if certain conditions are met, the page shows some more data, options, etc.
    You can do this by setting some $_SESSION (php) variables after the special user logs in.

    if ($_SESSION["reseller"])
    {
    echo "Show your reseller price"; //your special reseller option
    }

    thanks

    perhaps i was too vague. Maybe i can describe it better.

    I would like to have a fully functional ecommerce solution with items, descriptions, shopping cart, payment gateway etc. all hosted at one URL.

    When this site is visited, it will display the default look for the cart, but when a user comes to the site via a referring site or an affiliate link, the site calls out to a different stylesheet.

    any help?
