Deploying need help with site for Unit

    Hello,

I am getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan and thought it would be nice to build a website for my unit. I have only started on the layout and color scheme.

The idea behind the site is to help keep us soldiers in touch with our families, friends, and each other. The site will be semi-informative but mostly serve as a means for the soldiers to keeps up to date with those back home.

I plan on having an individual page setup for each soldier (100+), that families, friends, other soldiers, anyone etc. can post comments on.

These individual pages will be simple with only a photo of the soldier, some minor details about them and then a paragraph or two they can write about themselves. This page will also display the comments people post.

This layout would be similar to facebook or myspace just extremely simplified.

Ideally i would like each soldier to be able to log in and upload the photo/message but I know this is beyond my scripting. It would be nice not to have to type messages and data for 100+ soldiers.

If anyone knows of some free or fairly inexpensive useful scripts for comments, login databases, etc. I would greatly appreciate it.

Most of the gray ones are free....

What I need to be able to do:

1.) Create a static number of users. (about 125)
2.) Have a login for users.
    3.) Posting of comments.
4.) User ability to upload at least one image.
5.) User ability to upload at least one blog.

    thanks for the above link..

After looking at those however i realized that SNS script is way more than i truly need at the moment.

I think a type of blog script would probably work for me. At the moment I am researching WordPress and some others. Anyone have any experience with wordpress?

Also would individual flat files be better than using a mysgl database since I only have a limited number of users?

I think what you need is a forum:
