Connecting to a remote database using Wamp Server.

    Hey,
I'm trying to connect to a remote database from my wamp server but it doesn't work.

I've tried to look for the answer myself but the only thing I found is that it's firewall related issue. Which in my case, it is not.
I've tried disabling the firewall, also tried to open the port 3306 on my modem.
    Nothing worked really.

When I uploaded the connection page to the remote server site, it worked fine. So I really have no idea what I can do now to make it work.

    Did I miss anything?

i think thats the only way a connection like this can work, for local connect you can connest via wamp or xamp etc...if a pro can shed more light on this would be cool.

you connect to a remote server in exactly the same way as you connect to your local server just instead of having server "localhost" you have server "ipaddress"

code wise there's no black magic here.

however most ISP's and DB hosts do NOT allow remote connects to their mysql database and the chances are the user you were given to access your database with is only allowed to connect via localhost ie: off the same server/trusted network.

i'd get in touch with your web host first and check see if your user can remote access the database.
