storing lots of user data in session. good idea?

Hi I am writing a PHP mySQL website which has personal user pages where the user can put a lot of info. The info is in sections over several pages. I am considering having the program do an sql query at the start of a session and storing it all in a session array, rather then doing a new sql query each time the user views a different page.
I just want to avoid making a new query to the server as it could work out as a lot of queries for each user visit as they look at the different pages.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is a good idea or not or see any potential problems.
