    Application Configuration

    Basic question... I've been looking at some work by other people but I don't understand how to create/maintain an application configuration file. I'm refering to the file you create to save the settings for the application - ie. theme preferences, site title, path details...

    Can someone point me to some simple examples or tutorials please?

    Thanks

    I'm assuming your talking about your own configuration files.
    There is no real way to save your files, its all down to the user. If its not a security hazard of any sorts, something like user preferences, you can use something simple, plain text, xml, or (can't remember exactly what php calls them...) an ini file - that looks and is parsed similar to the php ini file. If security is a risk, save it up as a php file and place it above your public html directory or wherever the pages are served from.

    But what it comes down to is simply create configuration files as you see them making sense. What anybody else says is really irrelevant, so long as you can easily read/write data from/to the file.
    Hope that helps!
    PHP Code:
    header('HTTP/1.1 420 Enhance Your Calm');
