Question Making website content visible only to paying customers

If you respond to this please assume we are complete beginners!

We're trying to set up a very simple web site, wherein we wish to charge people to progress beyond the landing page to view content - so effectively pay per view. The current charging mechanism is a Paypal buynow button - probably not relevant, except we think a shopping cart would be overkill. When the customer returns after making payment, they can then view the content, but as inexperienced web developers, we don't know how to prevent them copying the url on the paid-for content page and distributing it on. In other words, we want to restrict viewing to only those who have paid to do so. Can anyone please advise how we can achieve this – or point us at a good resource to learn how to do it?

Many thanks in advance for your help…

You would have to create a user account system that would have a field in the database saying who has paid and can view the content. Or if you want to go simpler than that, make the page where people have to use a password to view it, and use their Paypal e-mail for the password. I doubt people would be posting that. You would have to keep a file or database of the e-mails that is updated when you get the IPN from Paypal.

Thanks for the prompt response. Any idea where I can get more details on how to do this, or find someone who can put it together for me??

If you are willing to pay you can post the job here: http://www.codingforums.com/web-projects/ and get quotes from the great members of our this forum :-)
