    Recommend some functions

    I've begun to learn PHP again, have tried a few times before but can't seem to get the same hang of it like HTML and CSS.

    Well, I can do the very basics, but would like to start using some functions and such. Can you recommend some good functions for a beginner, that are nice to know of? I know of some already, namely:

    include() and require()
    rand()
    date()
    count()
    mail() - don't want to make a mailform though as I have one that is fully working

    I was hoping someone could recommend some new ones to learn.

    In addition to learning more functions, you might want to learn some good techniques/habits.

    Such as mastering how and when to use different types of loops.

    var_dump()
    print_r()
    These functions are important when you are debugging.

    You also might want to inform of which PHP version you are using.
    Most of my questions/posts are fairly straightforward and simple. I post long verbose messages in an attempt to be thorough.

    Looking over the manual will definitely help you get an understanding, as well as hands on experience, of course.
