    File conversion

    There are two little archives attached to this post.

    phpvideo-0.1b.zip is some server side code to convert uploaded video files to the .flv format.

    upload.zip is a file from coppermine photo gallery that does the work of inserting a file into coppermine.

    What I would like to do is integrate some code into upload.php to pass any video files to the other script for cenversion and then return the resulting file back for inserting into the gallery.

    Any suggestions on how to do this would be gratefully recieved.

    Not a lot yet. I'm worried about a number of things and don't understand others.

    My biggest concern is the length of time the conversion process takes. I'm thinking that users may give up.

    The phpvideo script works well as a standalone program. I'm wondering if it would be better to add a button to coppermine for video uploads that takes the file then forces it to a particular album when conversion is complete rather than using the upload script, which requires user interaction on completion of upload.

    Another option would be to allow the upload as normal then let the video script do it's work.

    This idea is giong to take some thought so I'm currently just firing ideas around.

    phpVideo ::

    Hey, I was reading through the forums, and noticed you asking about detecting video types. Im the author of Wattz.net (or phpVideo) if you take a look, there is a new version out 0.2, in the source you can see how i examine the different video extensions, you could pull that out for what you are doing. I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Wess

    Cheers, your software is superb. I've almost got it running as a plugin for coppermine. When it's done I'll send you the details on your site so you can see the good use it's being put to. There seems to be a lot of interest in this project
