    download hidden files

    Hi,
I'm working on a script to download hidden files. I have it set up to download zip and exe files (I hope). I'm wondering how different browsers/OSs will handle this and would appreciate you testing this and reporting back.

Some of the things I'm interested in are:
    1. Does the browser actually download the file or does it try to open it?
    2. Does the name of the file and the type of file actually show up in the download popup?

The first file (zip) just contains a text file. You can trash it.
The second file is a freeware program (not mine) that creates meta tags.

    Here's the link:

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Here's what I can tell you:

    WinXP (Prof.)
    Internet Explorer 6.0.2600.0000

test1.zip gets downloaded (after asking what to do, "Open, Save, Cancel, More Info")
I cannot tell you if the size is sent, because it's finished in less than a second.

metatag.exe gets downloaded too (after asking what to do, "Open, Save, Cancel, More Info")
I cannot tell you if the size is sent of this file either, because it's finished in less than a second.

    Hope you have enough information

    Mzzl, Chris
