    Help with CGI Email

    Hi,

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to server side development so please bear with me.

I'm currently working on this website: www.mbrochildminder.co.uk.

I'm wanting to use a cgi email script to send email from the form on the site.

Currently it doesn't seem to be working and is pulling back a 404.

The action is set to: http://www.darrenclarkdesign.com/mbr..._template2.txt

(you will see that the mbrochildminder site is sat on the back of the same server as darrenclarkdesign.

I have placed the template file both in the root of mbrochildminder and within the cgi-bin - neither seem to work.

I have performed this task previously on my own website darrenclarkdesign.com but for some reason it isn't working on this new site.

Note - I had to copy the cgiecho/cgiemail scripts across into the cgi-bin of mbrochildminder as they were not there - could this be causing problems?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks,
    Darren

There is no connection, other than darrenclarkdesign.com is my own portfolio site where as mbrochildminder.co.uk is my Mum's website that I have created for her. As she had no web space I just piggy backed it onto my server.

i'm guessing but why don't you set action to:

    http://www.mbrochildminder.co.uk/cgi..._template2.txt

Edit: the action seems to be incorrect. I never used cgiemal.

Ok, just tried that and got a similar error:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@mbrochildminder.darrenclarkdesign.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.15 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.mbrochildminder.co.uk Port 80

ok, i tested my self with few action url and seems that cgimail is installed at:

    http://www.darrenclarkdesign.com/cgi-bin/cgiemail/

now try to put the e-mail_template2.txt in the document root of www.darrenclarkdesign.com and change action to:

    http://www.darrenclarkdesign.com/cgi..._template2.txt

i'm not sure if this is correct, the documentation is very confusing.

    best regards

    last paragraph on this page:

    http://web.mit.edu/wwwdev/cgiemail/user.html#action

'Optional: Use CGI environment variables.' there is a link to 'configuring':

    http://web.mit.edu/wwwdev/cgiemail/w...r.html#install

down to 'How do I tell if the installation worked?' and test both url, or only first, i don't realy remember,

the main idea was to be sure that is installed and to find where,

    Edit: i'm glad you solved,

    best regards
