    Need Skilled, Fast Coder

I have a website running off php/mySQL in an IPB/Xoops environment. Have 2 dedicated servers - one web, one SQL. This is the problem:

The query in question is locking the database which prohibits further queries from running. In turn, my web server begins to fail as it can't handle the load from waiting on the mysql queries that will never finish because of the locked database, and the new visitors coming to the site as well.

    It's a big database, over 1GB.

    Viola, the website goes down.

If you think you can handle this job, please PM me. I need it done YESTERDAY!

    Thanks.

    DG

maybe i'm just not adventurous enough, but looking into such a problem + correcting it might take a while.
worst case, it could turn out that the only real sollution is upgrading your software + investing in some optimizer tools + some quite extensive recoding.

so would you be able and prepaired to cough up a few thousand dollars for this?

if you're lucky, it's some isolated, easy to fix problem. but that's a big if...

One issue you might be having is due to having the sql server separate to the website.
I know that when running developement sites locally but connecting to a live database , the code execution can be up to 10 times slower than running the same code on the server running the mysql daemon

A few thousand? Well, for that I would rather spend $5g for a new website. The current setup just isn't worth it.

I agree with you though, it may be something way too complicated. I am thinking I should have gone with a cgi based CMS instead of PHP.

I thought of that, but this problem was happening before I upgraded to a dual setup. It's definitely the code.

maybe you're lucky and someone will be prepaired to take a look at it and may find a simple sollution.
this will always be your next step: have someone diagnose the problem, and after that you'll need to decide if the estimated costs are worth it.

woud you be able/prepaired to give someone full acces to these servers so they can check out the config/logs/db-layout etc? + what would you be willing to pay?

Don't blame PHP. PHP is a perfectly fine tool to build fast, high load sites...

@Raf - helpful member Yes I give full access to server(s) - I know PHP is good. I got it because I could work with it though I'm still a n00b.

As far as pay - I'll pay whatever the going rate is and would happily pay a bonus for someone who is proven and can do the work f-a-s-t.

I am talking to two coders now who are looking at my database and will come back with info. Will let you know if the job is still available.

This is a really great place to get help! I'm impressed.
