Formac (www.formac.us), a leading developer of digital lifestyle solutions for Macintosh and PCs, offers an internship/graduation project in the field of web design and branding (starting ASAP). Located in the heart of San Francisco (South of Market), we are an international company looking for an individual that wants to develop a web presence that is second to none (both with regard to design and navigation). The brand is highly visible to end-users and the project is therefore ideal for reference purposes or graduation work. You will be working directly with senior management so decision making is fast and efficient.

The project comprises of the following tasks:

    > Design and definition of basic Corporate Design elements (logo, typeface, colors, pictograms etc.) for online presence.
    > Implementation of website with static (HTML) and animated/interactive elements (Flash/Java)
    > Integration of existing e-commerce and support solution

Candidate must possess the following skills:

    > Must be fluent in HTML with CSS (handcoding only, no WYSIWYG editors), excellent JavaScript and Java programming experience (that means more than just rollovers and form validation)
    > Familiarity with XHTML, DOM and W3C standards
    > Experience with XML/XSLT
    > Experience with Flash MX animation authoring and ActionScripting
    > Integration of existing e-commerce/support solution requires some experience integrating front-end code with server-side scripting technologies (i.e. cgi/perl, PHP etc.). Must be able to validate requirements, conduct system design, develop SQL queries, and perform front-end development using PHP
    > Knowledge of cross-browser/cross platform compatibility issues. Experience designing and implementing a variety of cross-browser DHTML menus and features for IE 5.x+, Netscape 4.x+, Safari, Firefox
    > Familiarity with graphic design concepts: Proficiency in graphics production/optimization techniques, including the use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash
    > Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, good communicator, comfortable with following direction, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines.

Internship is full-time: 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday thru Friday
Payment is $500/month, plus bonus based on performance criteria

Interested candidates should e-mail their resume (please include as part of the e-mail or as a pdf attachment) along with a portfolio of dynamic web sites that you have built (static HTML pages are not sufficient) to hr@formac.us. We will only reply to those applicants selected for interview - no phone calls please.

If the internship is 8am to 5pm, 5 days a week, that works out to 45 hours a week. Approximating 4 weeks to a month, and $500, that works out to $2.78/hour. It sounds like an interesting intership, but for those requirements, it seems a little underpaid.

Also seems like alot of required experience for an internship, especially at that rate.

Maybe $500 a month was a typo? I don't know about the cost of living in SF, but that can't go too far...
Computer, kill Flanders... Did I hear my name? My ears are burning...
Good start. Now finish the job.
