Cool Also Free Web Design Services

I have worked long and hard on my own site (and it's still not done ) but I would like to get a portfolio started. I don't have the links to the pages I have spent the most time on because they are not done, but http://www.evilshroud.com is my main website. Feel free to check it out. If you want a better example of my skills, PM me and I'll give you a link to my website game. This has been my main project other than my hosting site and is coming along fairly rapidly. My main area of expertise is PHP in which I can do nearly everything seamlessly. At least in my own opinion. I can make use of databases from PHP and love doing so. I have done the following three things at some point:
    register/login scripts
    email from webpage scripts
    browser based game (with database)

I also have a hosting company if anyone needs good hosting for about $3. PM me for any other questions you have.

No offence intended but your site isn't showing your skills. You will need to do alot more to it and have a design to it before you can think of advertising to do other sites.

    I was hoping I wouldn't have to...

Well, I guess I need to advertise my game in here then. Then you will see what I can do.

Remember, it's not finished yet but it works.

And my hosting site is http://hosting.evilshroud.com

No offense, but your hosting site leaves a lot to be desired. First off, with your package descriptions you say $3, is that per month, per year, per century? What? Then you say 2GB of bandwidth, and I assume you mean transfer in actuallity; there is a big difference. Secondly, you don't talk about what kind of server setup you have and what redundency precautions you have in place, like UPS and tape backup. Then under your TOS you say that a customer cannot put any copyrighted material on their space? Then how do you expect them to use it? The way copyrights work is that it is automatically copryighted when something new is made. I suggest a trip over to: http://www.whatiscopyright.org/ Now I assume you ment stuff that you do not hold the copyright too, but you should correct the wording of your contract. Also you do not mention what type of payment options you support too.

Not trying to flame you, just trying to help you out.

    Fixed

I got the email a few minutes ago and fixed the matters you pointed out. Thank you for doing this as I am new to hosting so that page on copyright is great. If anyone sees anything else wrong please let me know. Oh, and I am currently (right after I type this up) putting a verifcation on the QuantumBots site. This way the guy from dumb@dumb.com will have an account, but all objects will have no effect unless you verify your email. I will also put in an email changing section. Again, this is still beta, but I'd personally say it's version .9. This is very exciting for me to have people just randomly doing this stuff so I can fix it. I work much better with goals. Again, I will be happy to make a few websites for free so I can get a portfolio going. My original message is unchanged at the beginning of this post telling specifics.

Please accept this as 'constructive criticism'

Firstly: I would seriously consider registering another domain for your hosting site: 'EvilShroud' just doest say 'steady, trustworthy, reliable, courteous, helpful' to me, and if people don't feel that way about you then they sure aint going to give you their hard earned cash.

It is hard enough to earn trust on the 'net, even with good domain name and a nicely designed site.

Secondly: Learn Web Standards and CSS, you may as well do it now, at the beginning, rather than struggle to break old habits later on.

    http://www.alistapart.com
    http://www.designbyfire.com
    http://www.mezzoblue.com

All good places to look, for info concerning the 'whats, whys and hows' of designing to web standards.

I would say for your portfolio site: a really simple, clean design that brings your PHP skills to the fore.

Hope this has helped, stick with it mate, and good luck

    Kindest regards

    Gary

Firstly, I have been trying to get some extra money in order to get a domain for my hosting. It's not that it's a lot of money, it's just I don't have it right now. I just spent a lot on a laptop. (Well, I didn't spend it, but I have to pay my dad back for it.)

Secondly, I know CSS is powerful, but I never took the time to learn it. PHP I guess was an "easy out". But with that mentioned I guess it is time to move on to it. Thanks for the sites.

When I get some money I'll be getting EsotaSolutions.com. Please tell me what you think about that name. Eventually I will be selling computer parts and/or already built computers too, so take that into consideration. Thanks guys for all the help.

The domain name is ok, Im useless at coming up with domain names, but that one is ok... Nothing special about it...

In your last post, I got the impresson you dont know what css is, seeing as you said you took the easy way out with PHP... I dont understand how you could do that, can you elaborate?
